Lindsay Eland – Egmont USA

Today is the final day for the Egmont Blog Tour. Last, but never least, is Lindsay Eland! (How totally cute is she, anyway?) Lindsay Eland lives in the mountains of Colorado with her husband, their four kids, one dog, three rats, and the various other foxes, bears, and elk that venture into their backyard.

The Interview:

KM: Tell us a little bit about your teenage self.

LE: I looked much the same as I do now, though my hair is even shorter now than it was then and now I have my nose pierced. I never did any group sports as a teen but spent a few days a week at Centre Dance Studio taking ballet classes from some amazing teachers. I was also involved in all of my schools Theatre and Musical Theatre productions which was a ton of fun. Things I didn’t like? There was this hot dog casserole that my mom made sometimes that was completely disgusting, I didn’t like Chemistry class in the slightest, and above all I hated to see people being cruel to others. Things I loved? I loved spending time with my sister, watching movies, Friday mornings when my dad stayed home from work and made us pancakes for breakfast, my sister and I listening to Bob Marley in our old, used red BMW on the way to school, and eating delicious plump bagels from Irvings Bagels every single afternoon for lunch. Delicious!

KM: If you could spend a day with a character from your novel, who would you choose and why? How would the two of you spend your day together?

LE: I would probably spend a day with Polly, the main character in Scones and Sensibility. She cracks me up and I know that the day would be completely unpredictable and that anything could happen if she was around.

KM: Confession time. What quirky writer things do you indulge in? Do you  have any superstitions? Is there anything you need to have while writing? Or something specific that will kill your momentum?

LE: Hmm, I don’t have any superstitions about writing, though I do have my quirky habits. I always have to have an iced mocha latte when I’m writing, and I love to listen to music though it has to be instrumental otherwise I’ll start singing along and get absolutely nothing done. I also love to have black Helix pens around (.5 is my favorite), and I need a heater at my feet or my toes will get frost bite cause it’s so cold in my office. My only momentum killer is a phone call, or an interruption, though with four young kids all 1 year apart, I’ve taught myself to quickly get back in the groove.

The Book:

And here’s the beautiful cover for Lindsay’s debut novel, Scones & Sensibility.

Summary:

(from Goodreads) Polly Madassa is convinced she was born for a more romantic time. A time when Elizabeth Bennet and Anne of Green Gables walked along the moors and beaches of the beautiful land, a time where a distinguished gentleman called upon a lady of quality and true love was born in the locked eyes of two young lovers.

But alas, she was not.

This, however, does not stop our young heroine from finding romance wherever she can conjure it up. So while Polly is burdened with a summer job of delivering baked goods from her parents bakery (how quaint!) to the people in her small beach town, she finds a way to force…um…encourage romance to blossom. She is determined to bring lovers, young and old, together…whether they want to be or not.
