I love to write. I know, duh, right? Seriously, though, writing is a stress reliever that I feel is essential to my daily life. When I don’t get my writing time in, I’m known to be a little cranky. This week, I have been feeling VERY cranky.
I’m going to make this short and sweet, because I’m not one to wallow in self-pity. And the main theme of this post, you will see, centers around gratitude. One thing I’m grateful for is that saying that "Things Come in Threes". If that’s true – I’m so done with this fluky stuff that has taken my week and upended it.
First, my husband’s car started so smell. And not that new car smell we all love. A burning kind of smell that alerted us to the fact that something was wrong. It was the radiator. We needed a new one. Then, my car got sick. She needed a new starter.
Remember how I said these things come in threes? Here’s what happened next. The small, brownish-yellow water stain over my two-year-old son’s crib became a much bigger issue than we expected. Check it out . . .
Note: The hole in the ceiling directly over the crib is nearly as large as the crib itself.
What are the chances? I mean, really? The ceiling had to collapse INTO the crib? Ugh!
But, no matter how crappy the week was, I’m stuck in this place of gratitude. I can’t stop thinking of all the stuff that I have to be thankful for.
Here’s a short list:
1. My family is healthy. And, in spite of everything, quite happy.
2. My son’s room will soon be VERY clean, and I get to pick out a new paint color.
3. I have homeowners insurance.
4. We found out about the damage to our roof and it’s going to be taken care of before anything worse can happen.
5. I have the most incredible family. Starting with my awesome husband, who actually helped me LAUGH through this ordeal. My parents and mother-in-law were incredible, dropping everything to come over and help us wade through the craziness
So, yeah, even though I didn’t get much writing done, and it feels as if my life has been falling apart around me, I count myself to be a VERY lucky person indeed!
