New Stuff, New Stuff, I LOVE New Stuff!

The Tension of Opposites Photos: Post 1

When my husband and I moved into our current home, we knew exactly what we wanted to hang over the couch: A nicely framed photograph of a nature scene. But we didn’t have the cash to make that happen. So we got creative, buying fabric, a glue gun, and a staple gun, and hoped that what we were making (which cost very little) would only be on the wall for a short amount of time.

Two years later, our creative wall hangings were still I place. And. Driving. Me. Mad.

Yes. For real. I lived with that for two years. And then some.

With the exciting news of my first book deal, my mind started churning over the possibilities of all the new things we could buy. Wanna take a guess as to what made the top of my list?

That nicely framed photograph of a nature scene, you say? Well, no. The FIRST thing I knew I needed was a netbook. Which I have sitting on my lap at this very moment. And. I. Love. It. Then I pleaded for the most beautiful purse I had ever seen (check my previous post for a picture of that thing of beauty: http://kristinamcbride.livejournal.com/1248.html).

And then, I moved on to the wall, mentally undressing it, secretly searching for the most perfect of all photographs to fancify it completely.

It took a while. But I found it. And I couldn’t be more pleased.

Wanna know my favorite aspect of this new picture? It reminds me of one of my favorite places in the world, a nature reserve that is close to our home where I love to spend hours hiking, and hanging out with my family. It also reminds me of my debut novel, THE TENSION OF OPPOSITES, because as I wrote, I couldn’t help but set several scenes in that very nature reserve.

With this post, I introduce to you a new series on my blog where I’ll feature photographs that highlight “The Tension of Opposites” theme of my novel. I think this is the most perfect place to begin!

(Psst. Eventually, I’ll be holding a contest here, so if you see anything that represents “The Tension of Opposites” in your life, photograph it and check back for details!)
