Pricing and Details
Pricing is based on a double-spaced manuscript with 1-inch margins, using Times New Roman size 12 font and industry standard formatting for chapter headers, paragraphs, and dialogue. Please note that you will send the manuscript via an electronic file (DOC and DOCX both accepted). This includes one full read-through with a detailed editorial letter and comments within the text, plus a Q&A session to clarify any questions you might have. I cannot offer a second read after revisions have been made unless you are willing to pay an additional reading fee.
Manuscript Critiques
Full or Partial Manuscript Critique – $6.00 per page
- Full Content Critique – thoughts on the opening, pacing, character development, character motivation, tension, conflict, plot, voice, dialogue, showing vs telling, description, fluidity, and theme.
- Line Edits – noting awkward phrasing, awkward or inauthentic dialogue, repetitive words and/or phrases, continuity issues, missed words, grammar and/or punctuation errors, switching tenses and/or point of view.
- A Formal Editorial Letter – outlining the main points of the critique in a big-picture overview.
- Links to Lessons – if needed in the areas of showing vs telling, punctuation, point of view, and/or staying in tense.
- Clarification on Editorial Suggestions – feedback on questions that the critique may spark after the editorial suggestions have been reviewed.
- Electronic Submissions – Track Changes and Comment Bubbles – track changes will appear within all electronic submissions, tracking any changes made to the manuscript and giving the option to Accept or Reject any suggestions for revision. Comment Bubbles will offer a thorough overview of all thoughts as the text is reviewed, which will help to highlight specific strengths and weaknesses in the overall manuscript.
- Hardcopy Submissions – Handwritten Comments – All corrections, suggestions for revision, and overview of thoughts on the text will be handwritten directly on the manuscript pages.
Content Critique Only – Via a Formal Editorial Letter
Content Critique – $5.00 per page
- Thoughts on the opening, pacing,character development, character motivation, tension, conflict, plot, voice, dialogue, showing vs telling, description, fluidity, and theme.
Line Editing Only – Via Track Changes and Comments Within the Text
Line Edits – $5.00 per page

Query Letter and Synopsis Critiques

Query Letter Critique – $60.00
Based on a 1-page, single-spaced letter with 1-inch margins, using Times New Roman size 12 font (industry standard formatting). Please provide a detailed summary or outline (1 page in length) highlighting the main points of your novel, from beginning to end so we can offer the most effective critique possible.

Synopsis Critique – $100.00
Up to 10 pages, double-spaced with 1-inch margins, using Times New Roman size 12 font (industry standard formatting).
Included in both Query Letter and Synopsis Critique:
- Line Edits – noting awkward phrasing, repetitive words and/or phrases, punctuation errors, switching tenses and/or point of view.
- Content Critique – thoughts on the hook, the overview of the plot, the closing, and the formatting.
- Suggestions for Revision – based on points that are not fully clarified or developed.
- Electronic Submissions – Track Changes and Comment Bubbles – Track Changes will appear within all electronic submissions, tracking changes made to the manuscript and giving the option to Accept or Reject any suggestions for revision. Comment Bubbles will offer a thorough overview of all thoughts as the text is reviewed, which will help to highlight specific strengths and weaknesses in the overall manuscript.

Payment
- You may pay via PayPal, check, or money order. The payment is broken down into three installments:
- 1/3 of the entire balance as a down payment to reserve a slot in my schedule
- 1/3 of the entire balance upon submission (I will not begin editing until receiving this portion of the payment)
- 1/3 of the entire balance upon completion (estimated at 2 weeks after you submit your materials). You are expected to pay the balance within 7 calendar days of completion. I will return your manuscript as soon as I have received your final payment.
Note: for smaller projects – query letters, synopses, short stories, novellas – I require payment in full to be made upfront.
