Arizona Teachers Academy Tuition Scholarship Agreement

Academy offers free college courses to recruit future teachers who stay in Arizona Day learned from her cousin`s Arizona Teachers Academy in 2017, while pursuing an online degree in economics. She talked about the scholarship with her advisor at ASU, and after a semester at Mesa Community College, she transferred all her credits to ASU to continue her teaching studies. ASU offers a scholarship for juniors and seniors of bachelor, master and post-baccalaureate students. “Without the Teachers` Academy, I would be miserable with an online business degree. It really helped me move from a business degree to training,” Day said. – Governor Doug Ducey, 2017 State of the State Address to Future Teachers Every student who presents the ASU with an ATA scholarship is expected to teach in an Arizona public school corresponding to the number of years the student has received the ATA Scholarship. For example, if you receive an ATA scholarship each year over a two-year period, you will need to teach a total of two consecutive years of schooling at an Arizona public school. We are proud to be part of the Arizona Teachers Academy, a major funding initiative of the Arizona Legislature, the Office of the Governor, and state public universities to bring more qualified K-12 teachers into Arizona classrooms, providing teachers with full scholarships and access to introductory services such as teaching coaches and professional development. In return, teachers funded by the Academy must commit to teaching for as many years in a public or charter school in Arizona as they received the funding. When applying to the UArizona Teachers` Academy, students must attach a CURRICULUM VITAE, a statement on future goals and an explanation of how the scholarship will benefit them. These are used to determine who receives a scholarship for competitive programs, Gonzalez said. Great teachers are indispensable to a quality public education system.

In his 2017 State of the State address, Governor Doug Ducey outlined several action points to address our state`s teacher shortage crisis. If a student does not meet these requirements, the scholarship is converted into a loan and the student must repay the full amount of the scholarship. The full requirements and conditions are explained in the Arizona Teachers Academy Tuition Scholarship Agreement. ASU had the highest number of graduates receiving the scholarship, with 116 graduates from the 2018-19 academic year, according to the Board of Regents report. This school year, Basil says, ASU awarded the scholarship to 1,000 students and 72 phD students. “Part of the reason we support the Teachers` Academy is really all around the New Economy initiative and the fact that we really need to think about (grades) K-20,” said Larry Penley, chairman of the Arizona Board of Regents. “We can`t divide education if we want to succeed in Arizona with a level of education.” University scholarships awarded by the University of Arizona, Northern Arizona University and Arizona State University cover tuition and mandatory fees. Fellows must sign an agreement to teach at a public school or charter school in Arizona for the same number of years during which they received the scholarship.
